Weapons
Guns guns guns
SoF features tons of weapons, all based on real lifeguns (but without real names and brands because of licensing issues). The basic weapon is a throwable hunting knife. Just above that is the 9mm pistol, equipped with an 18 round magazine. The pistol, just as in real life, is only effective at short range, and doesn't have very much stopping power, particularly against enemies with body armor. Next up the line is the .44 magnum with only a 9 round clip, but enough power to take off a limb at close range. Similar in power (but easier to aim) is the shotgun, which can hold up to 8 rounds at a time. Weapon 5 is the 5.56mm sniper rifle. It's got a zoom lens of course, and its accuracy increases the more you zoom in. We had a lot of fun shooting guns out of hands and sunglasses off people's faces with this one!

Automatics
Finally we get up to the automatic weapons, starting with the silenced 9mm submachine gun. With a round capacity of 32, this one looks very much like an Uzi. While its rate of fire is extremely high, it has a disappointing lack of power, meaning that it just manages to consume ammunition at an atrocious rate. It's fairly useless against armored opponents, unless you aim at the limbs. The other submachine gun (resembling an MP-5K) is a lot more practical because of better stopping power, and a slightly larger magazine at 40 rounds. At the top of the power list is the heavy machine gun, arguably the best and most versatile weapon in the game wielding power, accuracy, and range all in one.

Special Weapons
The last several weapons are much more specialized. SoF's rocket launcher is a shoulder mounted box that holds up to 4 rockets at a time. These can be fired singly or in automatic sequence! There's also a flamethrower, which can cook enemies but only at short range. Rounding out the list of guns are the slug thrower (same idea as a railgun but not nearly as powerful, nor is it hitscan) and the microwave gun, both of which don't necessarily exist in real life - only in research labs. The microwave gun works in an interesting way. It fires similar to the Quake 1 lightning gun but will actually incapacitate enemies if you hit them with a short burst. Hold it on them for longer and they'll cook from the inside out, perhaps even bursting into flame! It's a great weapon because it ignores body armor.
