Weapons
Pow bang!
Beam this and beam that. Weaponry consisted mainly of a large array of flashy lights. Your default weapon is the standard issue sidearm of the Federation, a Phaser. This little guy works on its' own power source and runs out of energy if kept on for too long. It packs quite a punch though, I found myself using this palm-sized weapon in numerous battles where I found it better to save my more valuable ammo for better prey.

If we toss the Phaser out of the equation, Elite Force essentially has two classes of weapons. One set is powered off of energy that is replenished by using the equivalent of a 24th century wall socket. The other set of weapons run off of crystals. You pick these up as you go along, although the crystals do look a bit like pink rock candy.

Each weapon has two different firing methods -- primary and secondary. This, for the most part, breaks down into a weaker, and the complementary, more powerful version of the gun. Some of the guns had some pretty potent stuff as a secondary attack. The Compression Rifle was particularly wicked in that the primary attack was a bit like a pea-shooter, the secondary attack, on the other hand, was utterly devastating, wiping out most enemies with one hit alone.

The only troubling issue we had with the guns is that there wasn't much to set one weapon apart from another. Unless I was fighting the Borg, I wasn't really compelled to use any particular weapon against an enemy. For large crowds, I leaned towards the photon torpedo launcher, aside from that I was perfectly happy firing a Phaser or a Scavenger gun. As far as I was concerned, the only difference between the weapons is what color of the spectrum was fired out of it. One was green, the other was red; I think, one of the other guns was purple or indigo; I'm not sure. Some of the guns were noticeably more powerful than others, but quite a few of them just blended together.
