The Pyro
The Pryo is a fire-wielding maniac who loves to set everything, including people, on fire. His main weapon is the flame-thrower, which spits out fire for a short distance. If the flame catches a player, they will catch on fire for a short amount of time, losing health every second while they burn (Sorry kids you can't catch the map on fire!). His secondary weapon is an incendiary rocket launcher. These rockets travel slightly slower than normal explosive rockets, but when they explode on impact they will catch any player in he blast radius on fire.
The Pyro also has Napalm grenades. When these grenades explode they send flames out in every direction, which will sit there and burn for a short period (just think of them as a molotov cocktail). They pyro can have 150 yellow flame retardant armor (they will not catch on fire like everyone else while they have this armor), and 100 health. Pyros can be used on offense and defense, and their flame-thrower can really eat up the lighter classes like scouts and snipers. They do have the speed and armor to run the flag, making the very versatile units. Their napalm grenades are also good for taking out sentries, or pinning down opponents.
What's different?
The funny thing with the pyro is that the IC-rockets, which are supposed to be slower than normal rockets, are just about the same speed as they are in TF1. After seeing how everything else feels slower, watching the pyro rockets the right speed surprised me a little. The pyro rocketss also have a red trail instead of a white one like the soldier's. This is nice because you can instantly tell what kind of rocket is coming at you by the trail it leaves. Before you had to look for a second to see what speed it was flying in order to tell.
Napalm grenades behave differently as well. The TFC version is actually an old "altprogs" (alternate version selectable by the server admin) version. Now when the napalms explode they shower the area with flames, catching the ground (or people) next to the blast center on fire. The flames will reamin for a short period of time and catch fire to anyone who approaches too close. Unfortunately the fire will not stick to walls, instead sliding down to the floor.
Everything else about the Pyro is the same. The model uses the Half-Life Egon gun for the flame-thrower, and the RPG for the rocket launcher. The Egon model actually fits quite well as a flame-thrower. There's a big tank on the back, and a hose that attaches to the gun. Honestly, it was made for the part.
