The Verdict

Please take note that we do not count the final verdict as the average of all the above. The 3.5 is basically a compromise between a really good score for singleplayer, of which I know there are many fans, and multiplayer, which is an abysmal part of the game. How abysmal? Basically, let me state that in none of my reviews have I ever given a 1 (or 2 for that matter) for any category! Even Might and Magic VII's innovation score (a game drawing completely on MM6 and previous ones in the series) got a 2.5, just because of some handy new features and the attempt at 3D acceleration.
So, if you're looking for a continuation of C&C's storyline, or a good singleplayer game, or would like to see just how interesting the C&C universe is, this is your game. Consider it 4.5/5, even give it my editor's choice if you have absolutely no intent of playing this in multiplayer…
However, if you are looking for the next StarCraft/Brood War, a tour de force in what a multiplayer competition game should be, the next star of PGL… FORGET ABOUT IT. =)
Still, personally, even with the disappointing multi, I would have bought the game, even dished out extra for the Platinum edition… but then again, I also played the Brood War campaign through to the end.

Win CNC2
Well, since we couldn't stand actually playing the game in multiplayer, we've got a lot of copies of C&C2 to give out, specifically, 3 brand new boxed editions and 1 Platinum edition, including a limited edition pewter figurine and the CNC2 soundtrack (ooh)!
