Battle Mode
Lots of explosion mode
Ahh, battle mode. None of those pansy checkpoints to follow; the winner is the one who kills more, better, faster. Weapons are randomly placed throughout the map; grab one and start shootin'. Unlike in race mode, tanks do not regenerate health, and they can die. Without mouse support, the tanks in the test are a bit hard to aim, especially since there isn't any up/down movement on the main gun. Obviously, this is an irritant that will be fixed in later versions.

One thing we really enjoyed was the difficulty in seeing in front of you once your tank has taken damage, due to the smoke / flames emanating from your turret. Not only that, but flaming tanks make pretty obvious targets. Being on fire is like having a neon sign above your tank that says "kill me."

No tweak kills
As a notable change of pace from most multiplayer action games, there aren't any (at least, not yet) weapons that can just take out a player in one hit. Combine this fact with the relatively slow movement (especially turning) of the tanks, and the difficulty aiming, and you have multiplayer action that lasts more than 30 seconds. It's rather nice to have multiple skirmishes and firefights before someone is finally taken out.
