Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

Konami's surprise at E3 was the unveiling of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. The Metal Gear Solid series has this magical effect at game shows such as E3 to capture and enrapture the attention of audiences with its masterfully-cut trailers. MGS3: Snake Eater was no exception… except that this time around, many carried a sense of mistrust. After being betrayed by MGS2: SOL in more ways than one, even die-hard fans of the series are wondering, “what will they try to pull on us this time?"

Sure enough, the trailer gave away many clues. First of all, MGS3: Snake Eater looks amazing. Konami is proving once again that they are the masters of optimizing for the PlayStation 2, and MGS3 was the best looking game of the show for the platform.

The trailer features such one-liners such as “New Era," “New Setting," “New Gameplay," and such reassurances as “Back to the Origin" and “Only the Snake is the true hero."

“New Era" refers to the story taking place in the 1960's during the Cold War.
“New Setting" refers to the MGS3 being composed of over 2/3rd jungle environments.
We're not completely sure what the “New Gameplay" is aside from you being able to climb trees and devour animals.
“Back to the Origin" – if it's set in the Cold War era, then this scenario will be a flashback. Remember, the original Metal Gear Solid takes place in 2010.
“Only the Snake is the true hero" – Wonderful, no more of that Jack & Rose Titanic drama. Just one problem, though… If this game is set in the 1960's, then Solid Snake may not have even been born yet!
