Deathmatch and CTF

Deathmatch

Most of us know what this means =) For the uninitiated, deathmatch can come in two flavors, team or free for all. In team deathmatch you want to kill everyone on the other team while not shooting your own teammates in the back. In a free for all you are on your own - shoot anything that moves. Epic also included a variation called Last Man Standing where every person has a counter set to a certain number. Every time you die, that number counts down and when it reaches zero, you're out. The last one (or team) standing wins the match.

Capture the Flag

This old favorite is incorporated in Unreal Tournament. Basically CTF consists of two or more teams of players; each team has a base or stronghold containing a flag. The object is to break into the enemy base, steal their flag and return it to the flag in your own base. Every team needs to be tightly knit and play key roles, with some defending their own flag, while others must go out and try to steal the enemy flag. What's really nice is that you can use bots as your teammates or enemies in CTF and command them to do random tasks like escort you on a raid or defend your own flag.
