Drop-dead Gorgeous

Vampire is the best looking 3D RPG we've ever played, and one of the most detailed 3D games we've laid eyes on. The design team went to a lot of effort to create an extensive array of textures and models accurately representing the structures and characters of the times. In fact, the only bad part to the graphics engine is that there aren't enough 3rd person view angles. Your camera will usually be pointed down at your character from an isometric angle, so you can never look up and see the top of a cathedral, apartment building or any other structure. The only way to look up is to go to the first-person view but from there it's too difficult to manage the party.

Where Shadows Lie

Redemption's lighting system is quite possibly the best on the market, with only MDK2 giving serious competition. Multiple, independent light sources will create multiple shadows, each getting lighter and darker depending on how close you are to an opposing light. The shadows overlap each other, grow and shrink as necessary, thereby adding all the more atmosphere to this dark, twisted setting.

Levels themselves look absolutely fantastic, with excellent architecture, awesome texturing and judicious use of colored lighting. Characters are likewise highly detailed, with distinct, modeled facial features, independent (though not mobile) fingers and limbs and natural motions. The variety of character moves isn't the greatest, but there are enough to keep combat and movement fresh, especially once you change ages and get a whole new style of weapons.

Wow is that ever ugly

The weapons themselves all have unique looks and changing one weapon for another will show clearly on your character. A broadsword looks different than a falchion or rapier. Similarly, a grenade launcher is different from a stake gun or crossbow.
