The Storyline

Getting into your work

Ray Gresko and the gang at Nihilistic have done some serious homework on their Vampire: the Masquerade license, reading up on all the material before starting out on this ambitious project. We saw the huge number of books that Whitewolf has published on V:tM - enough to fill a small bookcase over in the Nihilistic offices. And yes, the company is familiar with all of them. Nihilistic is working very closely with White Wolf to ensure that the computer game remains true to the role playing game that spawned it. In fact, Ray co-wrote a huge script for the story that the computer game would follow - this thing is huge! When we visited Nihilistic, Ray showed us the script for the game, a stack of paper that is easily 2 or 3 inches thick!

The game's storyline

The computer game's story centers around Christof Romauld, a 12th century knight from a fanatic religious order. Part of his religious zealotry includes an incontrovertible hatred for monsters like vampires. Christof's "life" takes an unexpected turn when he is "embraced," or turned into, a vampire himself. As he comes to accept his condition, his faith is tested and his whole black and white belief system is shattered. You take the role of Christof as he struggles with his new identity, and tries to hold on to what humanity he has left. You must also help him reconstruct an entirely new psyche, since in order to survive, Christof must cast away his baseless faith that holds all vampires to be evil. Your adventures will take you through 4 different cities, in 2 different time periods!

 Random Fact
Driving a stake through a Vampire's heart (staking them) doesn't kill them according to V:tM - it merely paralyzes them until the stake is removed.
