More than just X-Wings

CalBear:

We all know you've seen the trailers for The Phantom Menace 84 times already. Maybe you're one of those freaks who downloaded the trailer and looked through it frame by frame to try and notice every little detail in the background..

Thresh:
Hey Bob, isn't that what you did?

That's not good news

CalBear:

Shut up Dennis. I'm trying to make a point here. Anyway where was I? Oh yes, and if you're really that crazed, you've probably purchased all your camping gear already, because you're going to camp outside the theater 3 weeks in advance to make sure you are in on the first day. You see, with fans like that, Lucas Arts really doesn't have to try that hard with their Star Wars games. Hell, slap the name on a box and people will come running right?

Where have we seen this before

Although a lot of people feel that Lucas Arts generally makes high quality Star Wars games, I didn't necessarily feel the same way. Sure, Jedi Knight and the X-Wing/Tie Fighter series were critically acclaimed, but I personally didn't share the sentiment that these games were the best thing since sliced bread. And what about Rebel Assault and the Masters of Teras Kasi? Now there's a couple of games that I bet Lucas Arts wishes they could sweep under the rug. Despite all that, I did my best to keep an open mind about X-Wing Alliance, and boy am I glad that I did. X-Wing Alliance is a great game from top to bottom.
