What's wrong with Price Watch?
Compared to KillerApp.com,
their content is disorganized. End-users who are not as tech-savvy
may be confused by the descriptions on the web site. For instance, let's pick an arbitrary CPU -
the Intel Celeron 366. Price Watch
returns a list of about 10 matches for the CPU. Here's a sampling
of the product names returned: "Celeron 366-OEM", "Celeron 366 PPGA Retail Boxed",
"Celeron 366 w/ 128k PPGA", "Celeron 366-Retail Boxed", "Celeron 366-Retail Boxed Slot 1 128KB L2 Cache",
"Celeron 366", "Boxed Celeron 366". Perhaps the hard-core techie can figure out the difference
between the wide variations of the product, but most people would probably be stumped. Retailers
seem to have the freedom to put whatever product name they want, and whatever description they want.
This makes it hard for the end-user to compare by prices alone - the way it should be. They used to
be the best and only, but in recent times they have fallen way behind. Yet, for really tech-savvy
users who know exactly what they looking for, Price Watch still sometimes retrieve the best prices.
