What about computer shows or computer flea markets?
Indeed, I forgot to mention computer shows when I wrote the article. Thanks to all
for reminding me. Depending on the show, deals range from average to good. If you
are lucky, one of the exhibitors is trying holding a fire sale on excess inventory,
and you can get a computer or components for less than market value. Though we have
never been to one, MarketPro runs computer shows across the nation.
Chances are there is a computer show scheduled at a city near you. Also, you can often
find good deals at trade shows such as Comdex
and MacWorld. Not only can you sometimes
buy products at a good price, but you can also sometimes buy new products that are just
released.
What about liquidations?
We've had several reports from our readers of great deals from government reseller liquidations.
One reader reports he recently was able to purchase a 9 gig Ultra-Wide SCSI drive, a PCI Ultra-Wide
SCSI controller, and an Iomega Jaz Drive with disk, all for under $200. Unfortunately, he also
admits these liquidations are hard to find. If you have had some luck finding them, please email me.
Oh, the reader also warns to stay away from the boxes with 'bad' written on them, as they usually are.
