Asus V3800 Series TNT2

Another motherboard manufacturer steps up

Asus, like AOpen, has been actively complementing their main motherboard product line with PC peripherals and components. For those with mobile interests, they even have a few laptop lines available. What separates Asus from the me-too video crowd is their excellent V3400 TNT1 card. Tested as one of the most overclockable and stable TNT cards available.

Asus is looking for an encore with the V3800, their new TNT2 series based, as expected, on Nvidia's newest chip. Looking to expand the feature set for the TNT2, Asus is offering three variations of the V3800 line. The "basic" model is a standard 125/150 part, and offers only the Digital LCD panel connector as a feature, but supports Asus' VR-100, an add-on with the VR glasses circuit, and 3D glasses.

TV-Out and video in, all in one!

The "TVR" version also runs at vanilla TNT2 speeds (125/150), but goes agro on features, offering video-in (for 30 fps at 320x240 NTSC), TV-Out, Digital LCD, and a built-in VR-Circuit. The VR-Glasses are available separately, as is a TV Tuner box + remote control.

Deluxe redux

The top of the line model is the Deluxe, which offers standard TNT2 Ultra speed (150/183 MHz), and includes Video-in, TV-Out, LCD support, and the built-in VR-Circuit. The differentiating factor with the Deluxe is ths included VR-100G 3D glasses, which is only available as an option on the other configurations.

No pricing is yet available on the TVR or Deluxe models, while a few of the basics have popped up to distributors over the last few weeks.

 Quick Fact
Asus Home

Staff members from GamersX.com and FiringSquad created the original ASUS website, and headed e-mail tech support.

Regarding tech support - if there was a problem we could fix, it was us. If we couldn't solve it, it wasn't us (or at least we won't admit it)
