Quake 3 High Quality

Celeron 450

Notes

Well, it does look like T&L is responsible for the performance gains. There's no doubt that S3TC would help performance on the texture intensive levels, but T&L is what keeps the GeForce going on the Celeron. The software T&L TNT2 Ultra only shows modest gains. Frankly, these are the T&L gains we were expecting from the GeForce when it was first released. It's good to see that the card is living up to its potential.

Also at GDC, we talked with NVIDIA's Rich Black about the 5.08 drivers. We asked him if most of the gains are from T&L as they appear to be, and he confirmed that they did a lot of T&L tooling in the driver adjustments.
