Notes
3DMark 2000 is a nice test of overall Direct3D performance of a video card. It is also well standardized and widely distributed, allowing for good performance comparisons. The ATI didn't perform very well at all in our tests. First, notice the huge difference between Celeron and P3 scores - while the GeForce boards are able to maintain linear performance gain, the Fury Maxx's performance drops to under 1/2 of the GeForce SDR on the same CPU, and nearly that much with the Maxx on a speedier P3-600 with SSE.
In 3DMark, the Maxx only begins to gain an upper hand on the GeForce SDR on the PIII 600 at 1024x768x32. With our shipping drivers, we experienced random flickering and dropped textures in all Direct3D applications, including 3DMark. ATI's web site had not yet been updated with either shipping or updated drivers for the Maxx.
