Introduction

Another mouse? Who cares?!

To the average computer enthusiast, the mouse probably doesn't rank very high on the component list. It's just an input device right? Why does FiringSquad even bother with mouse reviews? Shouldn't we be more concerned with the latest and greatest video cards or processors?

Yes, we are hardware enthusiasts, but we're gamers first and foremost. Here at FiringSquad, most of us upgrade hardware specifically to improve game performance. Upgrading the CPU and video card allows our games to run faster and prettier. You may ask why we have a CD-RW review… well, some of our more sketchy readers may consider CD-RW drives gaming related.

We Care!

If you haven't already noticed, input devices are pretty important to us. How many hardware sites out there actually have a keyboard guide? We also have two mouse p/reviews, a review of the Logitech Gaming Mouse and a preview of the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer. We even had the first Everglide mouse pad review.

Most hardcore gamers are aware that the mouse is a vital system component. Gamers need to have a quality mouse (usually Microsoft or Logitech) and a good mouse pad (usually an Everglide or 3M Precise Mousing surface). Playing with an unfamiliar mouse or even a different mouse pad can seriously hurt performance. Having a familiar setup is essential that quick 180 snap shot or grabbing that errant zergling.
