Ballistics Report
Pros:
Sensitivity: This mouse is without a doubt, the quickest and most responsive mouse I have ever used.
Drivers: The current driver set is very good; more updates are on the way providing even more customizability.
Software Bundle: The version that we received does not have anything but the versions being sold currently provide Soldier of Fortune (Special Edition), Battlezone II, and a 3M Precision Mousing Surface. This would seemingly make the risk negligible, as the 3 bonus products will lessen the pain if the mouse turns out to be a disappointment to you.
Barrier to Entry: Are you tired of having people play Q3 on your computer and changing your settings when you're not there? Any skilled player who isn't used to the Boomslang won't go near your system with a 10-foot pole. Those who still violate your system even after seeing the Boomslang will obviously be tourist Quakers who don't have the skill to even know the difference in mice, and that probably means that they won't know how to change your settings either.
Cons:
Shape: The shape of the mouse seems is definitely holding it back. Had Razer made the mouse with a more traditional shape, the Boomslang would have been a much better product. If the mouse was shaped similarly to a Logitech or Microsoft, we could easily see everyone in this office switching over for the 2000 DPI sensitivity.
Learning Curve: If you are already used to a certain mouse shape, it will take a very long time to get used to this mouse. Sensitivity training will be a huge part of this. Getting used to the shape will also be very difficult.
Price: This might be a factor, but the innovation and technical superiority are worth the cost. The best offerings from competitors are roughly half or even one-fourth the price.
