Office/Content Creation

Business Winstone

Content Creation Winstone

Analysis

Once overclocked, the Duron 1080 only trails the Athlon 1GHz by 3% in Business Winstone 2001. On the other hand, the Celeron 1072 trails its big brother by 23% in the same test. That extra 128K of L2 cache must really make a difference huh?

In CC Winstone the gap opens up a bit more for both processors, and did you notice the Duron 1080 outrunning the Pentium III in this test? We did too, so we ran the test again to confirm the numbers. That's 10 iterations of CC Winstone for the Pentium III alone folks, our results are no fluke.

Our Duron overclock netted us an additional 11% performance increase in Business Winstone, and 9% in CC Winstone. Celeron improved by 21% and 20% respectively in both tests.

SYSmark 2001 - Internet Content Creation

SYSmark 2001 - Office Productivity

SYSmark 2001 uses a newer suite of software than the Ziff-Davis tests. For instance, while CC Winstone 2001 utilizes Photoshop 5.5, SYSmark 2001 uses Photoshop 6.0. We run both tests so you can get a complete picture of desktop application performance with multiple software packages.

With the updated software, you'll notice our Duron overclock boosted our scores by 18%, and Celeron, 27%, in Internet content creation testing. tIn particular, the Celeron 1072 makes a significant leap in comparison to our results with CC Winstone 2001, but it still trails Pentium III by 16%. Our Duron 1080 took a significant step back in content creation performance, it now trails Athlon by 15%.

Likewise, in business application performance, Duron falls in line 10% behind Athlon, while Celeron falls back 27% behind Pentium III. Overclocking the Duron boosted office performance by 13% and the Celeron by 22%.

Finally, business application performance trends between Business Winstone 2001 and SYSmark 2001 are the same, the Celeron systems finish in the last two spots.
