The results from the CPUMark test show quite handily that the raw processor performance of both the Celeron and Pentium II chips lie in the MHz rating. From this test, there's no discernable difference between the P2 and the Celeron, regardless of cache size or speed.

The Business Winstone shows how competitive the Celeron 366 performs to the Pentium II 400, and how overclocked to 550, consistently beats out the Pentium II 500. The Business Winstone 99 test differs from the 98 in that it stresses actual multitasking in its procedure. Here, you would expect the Pentium II to pull ahead of the Celeron processors, as the L2 cache begins to play a more important role. However, it appears that the full-speed L2 cache of the Celeron (running at 366Mhz and 550Mhz, as compared to 200Mhz and 250Mhz for the Pentium II setups) makes up much of the difference for having only ¼ the amount as found on the PII's.
