SYSmark 2001 uses a newer suite of software than the Ziff-Davis tests. For instance, while CC Winstone 2001 utilizes Photoshop 5.5, SYSmark 2001 uses Photoshop 6.0. We run both tests so you can get a complete picture of desktop application performance with multiple software packages.

Our results with SYSmark's office productivity test mirror those found in Business Winstone 2001, right down to similar percentage point differences. Again, we see the Duron 950 score 3% higher than Duron 900. The gap between the Duron 800 and Duron 900 opens up a bit to 9%, while the overclocked Duron system trails Athlon by a 12% difference.

Internet content creation tests reveal a 5% gap between Duron 900 and Duron 950, and a sizeable 20% margin between Athlon 1GHz and Duron 1.05GHz. Clearly the newer software suite in SYSmark 2001 illustrates the difference between Athlon and Duron, the added L2 cache present in Athlon really makes an impact!
