The Cooling Process
Evaporation Blues
Copper tubing is used in their "thermal bus" to move the vaporized and liquid Freon. All of the components, including the tubing, are thoroughly insulated, to the point where the tubing enters the system case from the refrigeration unit below, and even the holes on the back of the inside of the case. As you can see below, the tubing is a little bit in the way of getting to the AGP/PCI slots, but the inconvenience is minimal. I wouldn't know where else to have that thick tubing located anyway. Otherwise, the inside of the case looks pretty typical.
The Outside of the Case
The Kryotech case has a convenient LCD temperature display, which constantly updates itself with the CPU's temperature. When we first got the unit, I was hoping to use the digital thermometer to get temperature measurements (if it could measure as low as -40 C degrees). This is before I found out that they had to use heating circuits to avoid condensation. I couldn't take my measurements as a result. Darn. The picture below shows the LCD reading at room temperature. You have the option of running the cooling unit without running the computer part as well.
After you power the system on, though, it runs for about 3 mins working its "magic". Then you get to this point:
Wow.
