The Diamond Monster Sound MX300 is the newest and fourth member of the venerable Monster Sound series of PCI audio cards from Diamond. It is the first shipping product to be based on the highly anticipated Vortex 2 chipset from Aureal Interactive, and is set to go head-to-head against Creative's flagship PCI audio card, the Sound Blaster Live!

Several weeks ago, FiringSquad pit the Creative SBlive! versus the MX300 in a shootout, in which the two cards came out relatively on par with each other. With the recent release of improved drivers from Aureal for the MX300, we're taking a Second Look at the MX300 -- you may be surprised by the results.
