Introduction

Just as big as 3D graphics

Diamond Multimedia has been known for several years as one of the premiere vendors of performance PC hardware. Looking for a reliable, can't-go-wrong video or sound card that's guaranteed to be at the top of the performance curve? You're always pretty safe with a Diamond Multimedia product! Diamond has always looked for the top-performance product of any market.

While audio chipsets can't claim exponential growth or double the transistor count of today's fastest CPUs, the market is still fierce, and the draw of immersive, movie-like 3D sound has computers users shunning the staple 2-speaker products of yesterday. If it doesn't support 4 speakers or custom 3D algorithms, it's no longer worth anyone's time.

But how important is 3D sound? Consider the fact that today, a 2D game is a curious novelty - a black sheep. Today's newest titles not only require the use of a 3D video accelerator, they demand the fastest performane in order to take advantageof their stunning effects. 3D sound to match the vibrancy of today's 3D graphics is virtually guaranteed a place in this scheme, and with the MX400, Diamond hopes to capitalize on this.

So what's after the MX300? Next!
