3DMark 2000 - DirectX 7.0

Running at 2GHz, the Pentium 4 comes out 6% ahead of the Athlon 1.53GHz and outruns the Athlon MP 1.4GHz by 8%at 640x480x16. Keep in mind however that with its 533MHz bus (a full 25% outside of spec), the P4 2GHz in our tests isn't an exact representation of the upcoming processor, which will run a bit slower. In contrast the bus on both of our Athlon processors is in spec at 133MHz, it's too bad we couldn't hit higher clock speeds with either AMD processor with the bus running at 140MHz or higher (150MHz would have been especially sweet).

3DMark 2001 - DirectX 8.0

In 3DMark 2001 Pentium 4 2GHz is able to pull further away from both Athlon processors, outpacing the Athlon MP 1.4GHz and Athlon 1.53GHz by 12% at 640x480. In fact, even at default clock speed Pentium 4 comes out ahead of Athlon.

Before we jump to conclusions, lets take a more in-depth look at these results by examining the framerate numbers from each demo.
