Notes
In addition to writing CD-R and CD-RW media, you can also use the PlexWriter for high speed digital audio extraction. The PlexWriter was able to extract audio at close to 8x speeds. Average songs took about 30-40 seconds to extract. The 8x speed might sound slow, but many high speed CD-ROMs can only extract at 4x, 2x or even 1x speed and the quality of the extractions probably won't be nearly as accurate.
Plextor Manager 2000 and Adaptec CD Creator are the two CD-R software programs that Plextor bundles with the drive. We'll talk about the programs more on the next page, but we'll cover CD Res-Q right here. CD Res-Q is Plextor's hard disk recovery program. It basically allows you to back up your entire hard drive on CD. In the case of an emergency, you can use the CD image to restore your old hard disk. You can also make the CD bootable.
