Ballistics Report
Pros
Performance: Klipsch once again proves that they can make speakers. The ProMedia 2.1 is one of the best sub-sat packages on the market today. Make sure you are good friends with your neighbors before bringing these speakers home.
Construction: The satellites and subwoofer craftsmanship are on par with the quality expected in home systems. No compromises are evident here. The satellites seem sturdy and the heavy metal stands keep them from wandering across your desk.
Klipsch's satellites are very stylish and resemble the more expensive home line of Klipsch speakers. They are made of plastic, although they appear solid. One problem with plastic enclosures is that they tend to resonate, creating aberrant sounds. I was not able to detect any of this with the Klipsch, possibly a credit to the elliptical design. The satellites are easily mountable thanks to an industry standard 0.25 inch threaded mounting hole. Klipsch sells some very nice looking wall brackets for only $20 for a pair.

Wow Factor: I am still experimenting on what to call this category, but it is basically a measure of how impressed your friends will be. With the speakers idled, the black satellites and subwoofer don't stand out too much. Only your most perceptive friends will notice the THX logo on the satellites. Once you power up the speakers, they will be impressed, even if they are hard of hearing they will feel the vibrations.
Cons
Value: Compared to the competition, the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 has a shorter list of features for a higher price. Fancy additions such as a wireless remote or digital inputs are noticeably absent. Think of the Klipsch system as the quiet type in the dark business suit, but that can play with the best of them. The Klipsch can do everything well, it just doesn't make a big deal about it.
