Quake 3 Fastest

Demo001

Notes

Instead of listing all our usual resolutions, we decided to choose a couple representative graphs. Generally with the GeForce DDR, the 512x384, 640x480, and 800x600 resolutions score very close to each other and out of the three we decided to list the 640x480 scores. We also threw out the 1600x1200 scores because even the GeForce is fill rate limited at that resolution, and all the scores were virtually the same. That leaves us with 1024 and 1280.

As you can see, the dual processors perform very well at the lower resolutions, and NT4 still outperforms W2K by a good margin -about 10% in the lower resolutions. The 3.68 Detonator drivers only seem to add about half a frame over the 3.53 scores.

The DLLs help considerably with the Win98 systems, but the gain is much smaller in the NT and W2K systems. Win98 jumps from 76.3fps to 89.4fps in 640x480 fastest, but the W2K dual system only increases from 95.3 to 100.3.

 Quick Fact
Quake 3 a little too dark for you in NT or W2K?

Switch to vertex lighting and try these settings:
