Software bundle/Overclocking

What's Inside The Box?

Like the Siluro 256 GTS, the Siluro MX ships with an impressive manual. With most video cards, manufacturers bundle a quick reference booklet that explains the installation process and gets you through the basics of setting up the card in your particular operating system. The bulk of the manual is offered on the driver CD. ABIT takes this a step further by offering a very detailed printed manual; you'd be hard-pressed to find something missing within.

Unfortunately, the Siluro MX offers the same game bundle as its more expensive brother. In particular, you'll get full versions of Test Drive 5 and Shogo: Mobile Armor Division. Also included in the Siluro MX packaging is an S-video cable, a copy of WinDVD 2000, Album View, and ABIT's Graphics Max utility for overclocking the GeForce2 MX core and memory.

Graphics Max

The Siluro MX shipped with the same version of Graphics Max as our Siluro GTS board. While the Graphics Max utility makes overclocking a breeze, it's a bit unremarkable in comparison to some of the other offerings out there.

Specifically, we would have liked some form of hardware monitoring included with the utility. We've seen many heatsink fans go out on our testbed video cards, and without a utility to measure fan RPM, we'd never know this if we didn't periodically check inside the system case.

Presto! Overclocked

Of course, the Siluro MX doesn't include a fan with the heatsink, but it still would have been nice to know the core temperature during our overclocking phase of testing.

Overclocking

Speaking of overclocking, with the Siluro MX, we were able to clock the core up to 188MHz while the memory maxed out at 185MHz. Considering the 6ns rating of our Hyundai chips and the absence of a fan on the Siluro MX heatsink, we were pretty pleased with our results. For reference, we've included benchmark results with the Siluro MX overclocked as well as running at default clock speed.
