Other features in the works
Thresh:
Believe it or not, dual-card SLI isn't the only advantage Metabyte is working on. Kerry Philpott currently posted on on a public forum:
By the way, this technology is only a small part of what we are working on here at Metabyte. We are working our engineers overtime to get you guys the bomb in a graphics config.
Did you ever think that you would be able to play Quake2 on three monitors with every available slot filled with Wicked3D graphics cards? with eyeSCREAM? Thought not - I have... :) Anybody interested?? How many slots would you fill?? Would you use more than two?? Just curious.
You heard that right. With some of the designed they've got in the works, it looks like you'll be able to slap in as many cards as your computer allows, and run them dual-monitor, triple monitor, dual-SLI, triple-SLI, quadruple-SLI, or any reasonable combination thereof. Don't even get started on how fair or unfair these will be, I'm not gonna open that can of worms!
Those of us who just opt for a conservative two-card SLI setup will be happy to hear that you'll be able to run dual-monitors in Win98, and switch to single-monitor SLI for 3D gaming. Now that's pimpin'.
Happenings at Metabyte
As you can imagine, Metabyte's suddenly really popular in the community. We imagine they've got people lining up to talk to them about implementing their technology, licensing it, buying it, buying them, and more. Right now they're just taking everything one step at a time, and pushing forward with all of the advanced features they plan to include with PGP.
The one thing Metabyte is really interested is feedback from hardcore gamers, as this is something that really concerns them. What single-card chipsets do you want to see with Parallel Graphics Processing? TNT2? Voodoo3? Savage4? Are you even interested in the possibility?
