World In Conflict Public Beta DX9 Codepath

Notes

We’re testing with all NVIDIA GeForce graphics cards for this article. AMD’s Radeon HD 2900 XT card doesn’t run the game properly, resulting in issues such as garbled text and error messages in some cases. When we contacted AMD about this, they stated that they’re aware of the issues with the public beta and that they would have an optimized driver that would address these problems once the game is released.

We should also note that we’re going to be providing solely DX9 numbers in this article. Shortly after concluding our performance testing with both DX9 and DX10 we were told that newer builds of the game were showing substantial performance gains under the DX10 path and that performance of the final game wouldn’t be reflective of the public beta, which was designed to test multiplayer components, not game performance. Because of this, we decided to save the exact DX9 vs DX10 numbers for another day, although we do provide more insight on DX10 performance on the conclusion page.

We also need to mention that we tested the game with the built-in performance test and that the game’s “high quality” settings were used in the graphics menu.

Back! How will the game perform on lower-end DX10 cards, and what about Radeon DX10 hardware?     Performance results Next!
