DVD Dealers of Doggie Death (2 comments ) by: DaugWok (85) | Posted in cluster Top 10 Challenge Round Sponsored by Intel Subject: http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,2106533... Posted 13 months ago ( edited 13 months ago ) in category DEFAULT Perhaps the mind of the Malaysian DVD Pirate is more cunning than I once gave it credit for...
"Malaysian movie pirates have put a bounty on the heads of two sniffer dogs who busted a fake DVD ring with a seizure of discs worth about $3 million, media and officials said on Thursday."
The...dogs? Not the person who trained them? The police chief? The head of Malyasia's Motion Picture Association? Somehow, I don't think the dogs had a moral stake in this bust...
"Lucky and Flo, two female black Labradors deployed by Malaysian authorities in their crackdown on pirated movie DVDs and music CDs, carried out their first major successful operation in Johor state on Tuesday.
The New Straits Times said syndicate bosses had offered an unspecified reward for the killing of the two dogs."
Lucky and Flo, yes. I can see the head of the piracy syndicate barking at his criminal underlings at the poorly-lit table of his darkened stronghold:
Boss: Arshad! What is this news I have heard of confiscated goods in your territory? Perhaps I was too quick in promoting you... *scrapes his sharpened hook hand across the table menacingly*
Arshad: No boss, you got it all wrong! It was, uh...Lucky and Flo! Yes! They came out of nowhere! We were defenseless against them!
Boss: Arshad, let me tell you what makes a man powerful. He must be able to surround himself with COMPETENCE, and I'm afraid that you... *presses a button on the arm of his chair which opens a trap door under Arshad* ...have just failed me for the last time.
*Horrified faces*
Boss: I want this "Lucky and Flo" found! I want their heads on a platter by tomorrow! Do not fail me again, for my lenience has limits!
"The Malaysian authorities are taking this threat seriously and the security around the dogs' current location has been beefed up,"
Beefed up? You mean these dogs had a security compliment before this? Truly, Lucky and Flo are the stuff legends are made of.
"The fake DVDs, replicating machines and other tools used to make and sell discs were hidden in concealed spaces and secret compartments spread over four floors of an office building."
So, they found a stack of DVD-Rs and an HP burner with LightScribe. Astounding. But hey, kudos to the dog's trainers. I can't find my blank discs half the time, so this is quite an accomplishment. They better lay off the East Side for a while, though.External Link: http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,2106533...
