Bawls found at Target; and in a CAN; and UT3 release date in March?? Bawls review found within!!! (11 comments ) by: zoemorn (5) | Posted in cluster FiringSquad Editors Challenge Round 1 Prelim 1 Posted 20 months ago ( edited 20 months ago ) in category DEFAULT Ok, the release date of UT3 isn't March (at least not in 2007), sorry bout that one but one of your favorite gaming enhancers is coming to a Super Target near you!
This review comes nearly a month late since as of January 14, apparently Bawls has penetrated Super Targets nationwide. This occurrence itself is newsworthy for caffeine addicts, and the fact that Bawls has been pumped up from 10oz to 16oz makes it a double shot to the, ahem, Bawls.
Well, having your Bawls stuffed into aluminum cans couldn’t be more fun I’d say! What follows is my unsolicited review of the new Bawls-in-a-Can format.
In regards to packaging; opening the 4-pack box from the side was not as appreciable as a package that opened from the top. I feared that my precious Bawls might go spilling out the side, then exposed to untold dangers. But the smiling face of the new Bawls mascot, crying out, "More Ounces for More Bounces" abated these fears so my hand dove in. The 16oz (473ml) cans have an outer styling that attempts the riveted likeness found on the glass bottle counterpart. Only you can decide how well the likeness is achieved or even whether you care.
As for nutrition, each can bestows 180 calories, 50 grams of sugar (not HFCS apparently) and by my calculations around 107.2mg of caffeine judging by the numbers from wikipedia.
So who cares about nutrition, how about the taste? Well, as you should expect, it tastes like Bawls. More importantly, it tastes like Bawls that have been shoved into an aluminum can. Strangely this is a good taste. If you are a connoisseur of beverages that come from cans and bottles; you have surely noticed that beverages that come from cans generally have the slightest hint of *gasp* metal. Bawls' subtle guarana berry flavoring doesn’t override the metallic slant as much as some other beverages do. My wholly biased taste buds found this unobtrusive. Personally, I do enjoy the glass medium better for all the reasons you are already considering such as nostalgia; tactile experience; and the lacking aforementioned metallic cues. Much in the same way that your Coke may taste better in a bottle, so too does your Bawls. And for you elitists that place your favorite beverage in the freezer for 30 minutes to attain slushiness read the following: Though no opportunity for slushy Bawls has been taken, I can say that upon exposure to room temperature my cold canned Bawls were sweaty.
