  XBOX 360 HD-DVD Impressions (2 comments )

I went over to a friends house to watch HD-DVD on his new XBOX 360 HD-DVD player and here are My impressions:
The Good:
Picture quality was nice.
The Cheapest way ($199) to get a HD-DVD player if you have a Xbox 360 console and an HDTV.
Easy to use, just plug it in, insert the installation disk and go.
Comes with an XBOX 360 TV Remote And King Kong.
The bad:
A 2 box HD-DVD player?
VGA Cable Needed For 1080p
I thought the XBOX could display 1080p over component, but my friend says VGA is needed.
No HDMI Support
If you want the least signal degradation, you need to use HDMI. Of course, you probably won't notice any difference unless you are 6 inches from the HDTV, and who watches TV that way anyway?
Selection. Some movie companies only support Blu-Ray. I almost hate to say this, but the porn industry concensus is that HD-DVD media is cheaper, and that is a serious economic factor. Guess which hormonaly endowed demographic segment owns XBOX 360s |
