Microsoft announced at CES that Lionsgate will be adding HD movies to the Xbox live download service. Lionsgate makes A LOT of movies, so this should increase the popularity of the download service.

I went on the Lionsgate web site and looked at their publicly (available) plans for the future, and they are closely aligned with Microsoft. Here are the markets Lionsgate wants to expand into.

1. Conventional media (DVD, etc.)
2. HD
3. Downloadable content (this announcement).
4. VOD (IPTV fits into this. See my previous blog entries).
