About a year ago when I first heard about Gigabyte's new UD3 technology, I wasn't particularly excited as I didn't see how adding another ounce of copper could really change things. Today, after spending some time overclocking the GA-EP45-UD3P motherboard from Gigabyte and reading about the benefits UD3 brings, I now see what is so cool about it. My time with the UD3P motherboard allowed me to take my E8600 to FSB speeds in excess of 650 MHz. The same E8600 was unable to pass 620 MHz on a motherboard that costs almost 3x as much, the Rampage Extreme from Asus. Clearly the UD3 technology allows Gigabyte's motherboards to stand out from the crowd with their numerous benefits including easier overclocking, lower temperatures, and higher power efficiency.
