| | Would you really browse the internet on an Xbox 360 if you could? Sure they have the controller addon with the keyboard but after about five minutes I would be like screw this and go over to my laptop. While the idea is cool real life use is pretty limited. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | It hurt the industry. It wouldn't be funny if it was Microsoft since this will be felt by Xbox Live as well as services like Steam. Really as a customer you feel safe buying things from the likes of Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo because these are big names. The thought that Sony could be hacked makes me wonder if Microsoft or even a site like Newegg or Amazon could be hacked. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Wii did do pretty good for online so far. Though it could also be that it was less of a target since it has less of the games for gamers on it compaired to like the Xbox or PS3. Also as far as I remember the Wii was Nintendos first online system while both the PS2 and original Xbox had online play for them. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I hear that Microsoft is seeing an increase in Xbox Live activity. From the info it sounded like Microsoft might be lOoking at another free Xbox Live event during the outage to try to convert PS3 players over. I also wouldn't be surprised to see special offers like buy a 3 month Live Gold pass and get an extra month free or something like that. Flag this | Edit this post |

| The personal information alone is bad enough. The information for registering a PS3 is about enough to steal an identify and things like passwords are enough to access other places where people would use email as the user and just a password since most people use the same ones.
The only bright side is the data could have been stolen by hackers trying to get back at the lawsuits and are not really going to use the data collected. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Of course this is worse than any RRoD issue the Xbox 360 had since Microsoft was willing to extend coverage for that. That made the issue more of an issue that was an inconvenience than anything really major for most users. Though with this I have heard that the data was not even encrypted and effects any service that might have been used to enter data like Netflix. Nowgiven that most people only Less than 3 passwords it is easy to see that there is more than just the credit cards at risk. People who never put in a credit card but use the sane password for let's say Amazon could find problems with this and a stolen identity could take years to recover from. | | If they allowed access to everything then Sony should have a major black eye after this. It's taking away the online portion of the device because they lacked the vision to think the console would ever be hacked and this is after the great security they had with the PSP... | My guess is that Nintendo knows the Wii is done for. Moving 7 million units last year might sound good and really it is but it also is down 30% from 2009. This year the quake in Japan also has had an impact on the company as income is expected to slide 41% and the lowest earnings in five years.
Also having the iPhone and iTouch go from 5% in 2009 of the mobile game market to 19% in 2010 is really showing that the 3DS might not be a long term hit as the mobile phones start to handle gaming. Link: http://www.reuters.com/article......E7FP01G20110425 Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I still wonder if games will come out for it or if they will just be ports. At a higher price for the console it makes me really wonder if it has the power to be a next generation console that would last or just a current generation with higher frame rates and 3d. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | The more of this game I see the more I think I am going to wait to read reviews before picking it up. Sure Duke Nukem 3d was great back in the day but this one seems like they are trying to make it seem cool because of breasts which anyone with an internet connection can see boobs even if they don't mean to be looking for them. | | Right now it would be hard to see a law being passed since the games are considered by the court as art. Before they could pass a law saying who can buy games the supreme court would have to cover the exposed breast on the statue of lady justice. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Really the ESRB exists to create a guideline for what it recomends. It is not like we live in a country with laws saying Best Buy can't sell a movie or video game to a kid. So really it is the store policy that is really in question and the only reason why the store has a policy in the first place is some kid bought Mortal Kombat on the Genisis and his mom saw the fatalites and went to the store to complain. | The Xbox has been profitable with Xbox Live being a billion dollar part of the company for the last three years. The Xbox games have also been profitable for a long time and really the Xbox 360 was a break out console for Microsoft.
Sony might not have made a profit since the link to Blu Ray, higher price for the console and free online play where revenue misses for the console. Though the ability to buy games off of Playstation Network was a market we didn't see from older versions of the Xbox. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Just a reminder to everyone that the first XBOX game came out November 15th 2001. The last game was released on August 2008 giving about a 8 year life cycle and about 3 years after the release of the Xbox 360. With the PS2 it first came on the market a decade ago and games are still coming out for it.
So really while Microsoft and Sony have both talked about a ten year life cycle it doesn't mean that a new console can't come out durring that time. Every console that has been replaced pretty much ever has seen support for the old version for a year after the new one is out going back to the days of Atari. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Even with a ten year life cycle the next consoles will be out not that long after the release of the Wii HD since they are talking late 2012 for release and the Xbox 360 came out in 2005. Odds are the day the Wii HD is released we will be seeing videos posted by Sony and Microsoft of the next generation console and what those games will be like.
Also to clear up my feelings on power it isn't a bad thing to have more power it's just don't expect a lot of games to be taking advantage of it. Mostly the better graphics will come down to less slowdown and AA but publishers are still going to want to have the same games on every system. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | That is really what the end user really wants. Though it's rare to see a publisher go for those two things. Odds are a publisher would rather go cheaper but higher security or lower security and higher price. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I wonder how this will play out for Nintendo in the long run. I know that some will call it bashing but at least hear me out on this one. Right now they are not getting the 3rd party support because they don't have the power of the PS3 and Xbox 360. Now they will have more power but the PS3 and Xbox 360 but a publisher is still going to make games for the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii HD with the same textures and models. See Crysis 2 for the PC to see how having more power will play out...
Then you have the Xbox 3 and PS4 both of which could have more power than the Wii HD and knock it back into being what the Wii is. Flag this | Edit this post |
