| I used to manually configure by bootup files instead of running memaker.
:-)
It was a feat to run a game, have sound and be able to use your cd all at the same time. Flag this | Edit this post |

| It wasn't meant to be an article about Linux. It was meant to be an article about my experience with Linux.
I have since tried openSuSE and reverted back to Ubuntu -- its cleaner. I did take some things I learned from the openSuSE how-to articles and apply them to Ubuntu.
To be honest I am running Ubuntu on my work machine now (I manage AD so that is saying something) and I have loaded ntfs-3g to access my NTFS partitions, VMWare Server to run a VM Windows Machine, and RDP to my servers to manage them. What a difference a week makes when you are willing to push forward.
I appologize that you thought this was an article acout Linux; if it had been I would have been much more detailed and taken a bit more time to research it. I did manage to get Beryl and Dual monitors running on my Nvidia machine -- but not the ATI machine. Nvidia is miles ahead with their driver. I didn't find Beryl to be all that and a bag of chips so I went back to simple Gnome and Metacity -- stablity is more important to me right now. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Wow -- someone really disliked that article. A rating of a one -- with no comments to boot.
Wish I knew if it were my writing, the fact I tried Linux, or that I failed at getting Beryl to run dual-monitor on an ATI card. Flag this | Edit this post |

| The problem was with Beryl and dual-head not just dual-head.
Update -- I am going to give up on Beryl... its still in beta and appears to need a bit more experienced Linux user to tweak. I am going to run Gnome or Elightenment for now. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | A mesmer's skills usually involved disrupting the enemy -- interrupts which do what they say and interrupt the enemy's skill before its activated -- denial which makes the enemy lose energy or health for taking an action. Flag this | Edit this post |

| As a Buccaneers fan I have to tell you the only way the Lions will get better is when:
A) The Ford family sells the team to better owners
or
B) The Ford family decides that they want to win and opens up the cash drawer and hires a real front office.
Great coach and bad front office IMHO. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | If you would like someone to talk to about your big-box store situation let me know... in my ten years in retail I have been seen things like this happen; in fact I was forced to give a person an action plan whom I believed didn't deserve one... I then guided him to completing it and he later became a store manager for them. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Definately taken as constructive criticism. Having been ex-Army and now a systems administrator by day my writing tends to be on the business/dry side so it is a thing I have to work on.
I really do appreciate the comments as they can only improve my work. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Thanks Kevin. There are alot of excellent entries this round as well and I am always highly critical of my own work -- usually after it is done. I can see all the areas that I could have done better.
The dry comment worries me since part of this is based on public opinion and hit count... so flashy would have garnered more of that. Flag this | Edit this post |
