| I turned 40 recently as well...
My first computer was a Texas Instruments (sory don't remember the model) and you hooked up a cassette player to it and saved or loaded files/programs from it.
To play the games it would take about an hour to load it all up... then you could play... so you didn't switch games too often. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Thanks; I am glad you don't feel it detracted from the content. I guess different folks have different descriptions for the cards. The article I used to determine how to label the card is: http://firingsquad.com/hardware/geforce_6800_performance_and_overclocking/
From this site. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I disagree that a top-of-the-line card would be considered enthusiast -- that it top-of-the-line or hardcore stuff.
My reference to the 6800 card as an enthusiast card is supported by at least one article on this very site. I also very clearly stated that my card was not top-of-the-line when released. So I am not sure what you quipped about it being so at one time but not in recent memory. The article is dedicated to people, like me, stuck using older hardware.
You are correct that I should have given more information on what each option did. If I make it to the next round I will be able to make use of that advice. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I wasn't shocked by how long it took, but that the article I wrote ended up as short as it did given all the work on the stats... but then again when you condense them down to an average... Flag this | Edit this post |

| I went and looked at the ZDNET copyrght statement and it looks like you should take those pictures down unless you asked for and received permission to use them.

| The only concern I had was the first image... but I am not sure if it is an issue. The ATI pictures might be an issue too even though you gave him credit I am not sure you have permission to use it.
To be safe it might be best to check with the moderators here. Flag this | Edit this post |

I think you are really working on some deep secret hardware project and trying to throw us all off your trail.

| OldFriend:
Thanks for the catch on my typo - corrected now.
I recommended a new system or an AGP card based on the fact that my system is old and only has AGP. If you bought a new system I would recommend a PCIe card.
As for dungeons - I did not find any yet, just building interiors which all ran at much higher FPS than the exteriors. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Movie Homage I did what I could with an older rig and a new game. I was actually shocked that the my rig did so well with the game.
DanT said he would attach a .wmv movie for me which will do a better job at showing the difference between the settings than the current flash video.
Good luck to all the participants!! Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I am still struggling to find a suitable topic that I can do with my ancient rig. I am thinking about doing something on how upgrading to a GeForce 256 DDR card would make a huge difference from the TNT 2 cards for playing Quake II. Flag this | Edit this post |

| It was good enough... but that was the one that had an obvious "general" tie in... and not all people that do searches know how to spell.
I am left to wonder. Flag this | Edit this post |

| The Indie 500 would be my guess given the Nascar folks... ofcourse I am not sure they stayed after getting here and seeing the Jeff Gordon not on the page.
I guess I can use my knowledge of these things to get more hits...
Watch out!! :-) Flag this | Edit this post |

| I am glad to see that they are actually talking about this. I for one would like to see a focus on the gameplay over the glitz of graphics.
I like World of Warcraft for some things, Guild Wars for others and the list goes on. I have yet to play a game that truly makes it to 100%. Guild Wars for me is the closest. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I can't speak for other poeple... but I have been visiting (lurking) on Firingsquad.com for a long, long time. This contest game me a reason to post here and join the community and also exposed the mBlogs and other features that I did not know existed. I also will not go back on any committment I make.
