| I agree with fair treatment of the employees, but let me ask this: How many people shop at Wal_Mart because of their low prices? Most people (myself included) can't deny the occasional, or more common, run to their store to save a few bucks.
I usually end up going there because they're 24 hours, and I work from 10a-9p...
But the interesting thing is that In and Out is still reasonably priced while paying their employees above the norm. Makes me wonder how much Whataburger pockets on every sale :\ Flag this | Edit this post |

| While I do agree that the wiretaps have their purposes, it isn't too much to ask for them to obtain a warrant. That's where I am against much of the monitoring that was being done.
That's also why I am against some of the sections of the Patriot Act, since they often don't need a warrant to nab someone. Not that I suspect the government of some "conspiracy" or some such, but that time has proven that too much power without oversight _will_ be abused. Flag this | Edit this post |

| You forget the DreamCast :) It was cheaper, had an established game base, and was a good game system (imho); however, it couldn't hold up against the hype of the PS2, and the graphics weren't quite as solid either.
Just goes to show how hype can overcome a small price difference. If the PS3 was ~$50 more than the Xbox360, I could see it dominating this round of console wars... but, you know, $600 is an excessive amount to spend on console hardware. So here's to sony being forced to drop the price on it right after launch! =) Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Well said! I definately agree with you on the price vs. hardware scenario there. I *want* a PS3 for the various RPG's I play (mostly SquareEnix, who are releasing all their big-name RPGs for PS#), but I sure as heck can't afford $600 for one! I'd rather get a $250 wii and a bunch of games!
As for the Xbox, I agree that it will start getting more sales once the price drops... but they also need to release a good game or two. Gears of War looks like the current forerunner, though for myself I'm waiting for a PC port (don't care for shooters on a console) Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I love the DieHard series; probably my favorite movie franchise. And while I am excited of the possibility of a new one, this one is sounding like a stretch... and after the third one being the least amongst the series, I'm not expecting that it will be great. But I can hope! :) Flag this | Edit this post |

| » My thoughts: The PS3 and X360 will likely be (visually) almost the same, the big difference being the Blu-Ray discs. That makes a difference primarily with RPG's, where multi-disc has been an ongoing theme since Final Fantasy 7. Traditionally, almost all (the good) RPG's have been on the PS2; my conjecture is that most of them will continue to do so. Reason being that the PS3 will likely be bigger in Japan than the X360, and RPG's have a bigger fan base in Japan than here.
Overall, both companies will probably have a decent market share, though Sony's will be a bit more rocky due to the insane cost of the system. However, if they do retain a number of exclusives, the system will still sell (albeit at a slower rate).
Myself, I am definately going to try the Nin Wii (and likely buy it, but I need to test that new controller first). I will consider a PS3 once some good content comes out for it, and possibly save to get one. I won't, however, be getting a X360; the traditional Xbox games don't really appeal to me, as well the system has been fairly notorious for having hardware issues. Not to say that the PS3 won't (it probably will, if the PS2 is any indicator), but if the PS3 is the system for me to get my RPG-fix, then I'll chance it. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Not only is that horribly wrong (the jewish people have been living in israeli lands for a long time), but that's a terrible thing to say! I must say, but I pity you if that is how you honestly, and un-pc, feel. I also don't see the Jewish people ruling the earth... they may try to convert everyone to judaism, but I certainly don't see them being the #1 world power. Rumors of them owning everything are overblown, as most jewish people I know are middle-class families just like most other people... Flag this | Edit this post |

| The biggest problem with the PS3 is how hard it is for developers to code for! Look at the N64 vs PS1: N64 was a more powerful system and an established console name. But it was also supposedly a pain in the arse to code, so the variety and numbers of N64 games were much smaller than Sony's.
The only reason I would even consider buying a PS3? Final Fantasy. Even then, I'm much more fond of the Wii so far (innovative controllers, inexpensive to purchase, and supposedly very easy for developers to code for)... here's to hoping Square will bring the next Final Fantasy to the other consoles! | While I disagree with your evaluation on womens' capability at being President, I do agree that Hillary would not be a good candidate.
As for crying about things you can't control/ban, it's all politics; Bush has gone on his crusades for things that he hasn't been able to reign in, he just whines about it differently than hillary.
Personally, I have yet to find a Politician that I like; they're generally only worried about their lobby groups/funding for their next election... Flag this | Edit this post |

| Personally, I suspect that Dell would still purchase ATi cards, and I don't think Intel would dare pressure Dell all too much on that.
I do suspect, even being merged, the companies would continue to operate much the same as they have (on the surface). Behind the scenes would show technology/manufacturing sharing (ATi video chips being made at the Dresden fab? Cool) Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Sounds like a promising console... But, because of the nature of the controller, I really need to try it before I buy it.
In regards to the patching system, what I wager is that the Wii connects to download patches/added features when you load up that particular game. I come to that conclusion from the system not having a HD, and I don't imagine that it's got anywhere to store the info between sessions (unless you can save it onto the flash media)
I'm not sold on the per-game fee to "own" the online versions of classic games, unless those games have gotten large graphical improvements. Otherwise, I would go with a monthly fee, and subscribers can play any of the online titles as much as they want for, say, $15/mo... which isn't all that bad of a deal, for either party!
Anyhows, I definately think this system will be #2 overall in market share... and, as much as I hate it, I think the X360 will be the more popular system. I want a PS3, but it's just so expensive... Flag this | Edit this post |
