| » P.C. Do we really want a P.C. G.I.Joe title?
And no, I'm not talking about computers.
Hell, I was mortified to see the intro of a newer Joe cartoon and hear the phrase "international heroes" uttered.
Someone I knew said it best: "Stop raping my childhood." Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Burnout: Paradise I think developers should take a look at Burnout: Paradise.
How funny is it driving around in a game seeing billboards for a company that doesn't truly exist anymore? (Yes, I know Systemax owns it now, but only a handful of B&M stores? Please.) Flag this | Edit this post |

| » His secong job. It's interesting to note that his second job is working for the HD-DVD camp.
Who knows, if and when Universal decides to at a minimum support both formats Mr Graffeo might be looking for a new job.
Took a closer look at the article. One million HD-DVD players =! one million HD-DVD player owners. For instance, there are three HD-A2s in my house alone.
I'm also sick and tired of hearing how much of an impact the adult movie industry will have. It won't. The difference in HD-DVD Vs Blu-Ray and Beta Vs VHS is no internet back then.
Most people who want to look for photos and videos know it's just a click away.
I know this analogy will ruffle at least a few feathers, but look at it this way:
If someone told you that most companies were getting out of the crude oil industry leaving only a handful of companies for an indeterminate amount of time, would you buy a car powered on gasoline, a hybrid, or an electric?
Obviously that's not a spot on equation as technically Blu-Ray players would also be considered hybrids, albeit hybrids that will work on future energies. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Possible backfire. While I agree that if nothing else the idea of selling the players as an upconverter is a good idea, this could backfire in Toshiba's face something awful.
Toshiba needs to be very careful in it's disclaimers and go ahead and say '$150 for a decent scaling player*'. *If your display is connected via DVI or HDMI with HDCP enabled.
If people do rush out and buy the players, but only use component, or even worse, s-video or composite, they will be severely disappointed and HD-DVD will lose even more face.
Additionally the people who are buying it as either type of player might not even have a HDTV.
I think the better plan would be to take a minor hit on HDTV profit margins and bundle the players at the same time.
Buy a Toshiba 720p display, get a HD-A3 for free. Buy a Toshiba 1080p display, get a HD-A30 for free.
Either way you look at it margins will be consumed with the 7 free disc offer.
For the record, I have three HD-A2s and one PS3 in the house. Flag this | Edit this post |
