i didnt really need more than 4gb of ram either, but i decided to buy a hotdeal of 8gb ram (4gb kits) and run windows 2003 enterprise x64 instead since I had it handy and laying around from a msdn package :)

Vista = crap. doesnt work with half of the corporate software and crashes whenever it feels like it.
