| Finally!!!!
Now you can stream your tv shows and movies without tversity--best part is you can fast forward and rewind them now. Tversity was a good stop gap, but now all is good. BTW you must use windows media player 11 to view your .avi's, media center will NOT do it. Flag this | Edit this post |

| If it was not for "That Country" you wusses would be speaking German. If "that Country" was so bad then why are people risking death to leave all the other more "sophisticated" and "enlightened" countries to come here. I love idiotic statements from ignoramuses. If it we did not have nukes, Russia would still be around with millions of oppressed people, living in tyranny. "That country" has bailed out Europe saving it's socialistic ass so many times it disgusts me. "That Country" has never been invaded, yet has sent countless young lives to die on your soil to ensure that you can make stupid statements like the one above. If "That Country" pulled all of its troops home, you guys would come back on hand and knees pleading for us to "save" you from all the threats that exist around you. I am Damn PROUD to live in "That Country"--The United States of America.
God Bless and Happy Easter

| Regular DVD's do look better, but not significantly--I have the hd-dvd via VGA. With the VGA cables, you can upscale your DVD's to 720p or 1080p. I believe the main reason for the improved visuals is that your screen is bigger so you are taking a (what would be) a smaller at 480p and "stretching" it to cover all your pixels. Think of it as a small jpeg stretched on your desktop looks terrible. But a larger picture looks crisper. Thus, 720 or 1080 upscale looks better--but again, not significantly.
Another nice feature of the hd-dvd drive is the letterbox and horizontal stretch feature. It does a fair job. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Here are some simplified facts:
1. You CAN do 1080p over Component (for movies as you could always get this for games) given that your "TV/MONITOR" will allow it. The 360 will send out the signal over Component at 1080p. But as already mentioned below, very, very few TV's will allow this.
2. You can get 1080p over VGA (again for your movies as games were never an issue)--I do this. Advantage: your old DVD's will be upscaled from 480p to 720p or 1080p.
3. Problem with HDMI that everyone fails to think about: With your HDMI output, you will or might have to purchase a new receiver as the audio will be in the cable, and if you connect directly to your TV/Monitor, your audio will reside there as well. You can not strip out your audio unless your HDMI goes through your receiver via a passthrough. Therefore, HDMI without an appropriate receiver, means lackluster audio as your can not access your surround sound. Thus, with VGA, your video goes to your TV/Monitor and your audio output to your receiver via either analog or digital output jacks.
Now, the caveat here is that if you want to use the advanced audio tracks, then by definition, you have a receiver that will accept HDMI as a passthrough--they almost all come with it. In my case, this will not work--I have to go VGA at 1080p to TV and digital audio jack to receiver. I think most people do hot have a high end receiver yet.
4. Then there is the battle between 1080i vs 1080p -- in most situations, you CAN NOT tell the difference. Furthermore, most people sit too far from the TV to even see the difference. The human eye is simply not capable of recognizing the difference beyond 9ft (I think it is 9ft.) And this applies to 720p vs 1080p as well.
5. Lastly, as mentioned below. The format war is basically over. The Pron industry is going HD-DVD. They are the ones who decide the formats--they did it with VHS and they will do it here. The Pron industry drives more technology than anyone would believe. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Duh,
What else are they going to say? The MS Mobile 5 software just plain sucks as a phone os. I had it on my samsung i730 -- "very clumsy" is my best description.
Now, personally, I am in the MS camp, but damn, Apple sure does know how to make tight software. My wife has a G4 powerbook and when I mess with it, it is impressive. Their software, in my opinion, is just cleaner, tighter, more intuitive. The iphone display on apple.com is quite impressive. My ONLY reservations are the typing looks like it might be too tight--thus allowing a lot of mistypes--and I am wondering if 8G is enough.
Kudos Apple, I really think you have a winner here. In fact, I think you will clean up with this phone. Just don't make it an exclusive with Cingular too long. Make it unlocked for all systems and then you will dominate. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Well sort of both. The 360 will not play .avi, xvid divx, etc., natively; but, you can tweak it with a plug in (MCE Decoder) to play these files. The decoder plug in converts the avi, etc. on-the-fly sending the proper format to the 360 as to allow the 360 to play the file.
So specifically, the XBOX360 does the decoding, but you can tweak your pc via the plug in to stream an on-the-fly conversion of your unsupported format. Thus both systems are decoding--the pc via the plug in, and the 360 accepting and decoding the stream. But on a wmv file, and any format the 360 does natively, the 360 does ALL the decoding; the pc simply streams. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Actually, it is a sentence. Remove the modifiers and you are left with the sentence: (gold) pieces were removed. So, technically, it is a sentence, though I would agree with you that it is poorly constructed. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Great move by Microsoft.
Though, I did the Best Buy 2 year deal for $49.99--and so far I had to replace two 360's, and I have a year and half left.
The bonus was when I just recently (last week) replaced my 360; I forgot to put in the wireless controller--I just figured they would swap. Well, they didn't, so I accidentally got a "bonus" wireless controller out of it. Furthermore, the premium system now comes with Need for Speed: Most Wanted game included. So I got a free game. And, last but not least, for my troubles, Best Buy gave me a $20.00 gift card.
Go Best Buy Go!!!! Flag this | Edit this post |

| Looks great, but now.. all games will be judged against GOW. GOW looks better I think, and, oh yeah, it's available to play. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.--by the time is comes out (and if), will NOT be the game stopper it could have been had it been release when it should have (say 2 or more years ago). Now it's just another game. It could have been THE fps to get, but the train has already left the station.
I'll still get it, but I hope it comes out on 360 as I find myself not playing any 'puter games anymore. Flag this | Edit this post |

| You have to love it... Far Cry AND Crysis will have been release (also with cutting edge graphics) before S.T.A.L.K.E.R ever sees the day of light. That is what you call a well run company--good job Crytek.
And, oh by the way, Best water ever!!!!! Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I generally do not like shooters on consoles--except for Halo series. But, DAMN, this is one beautiful game. I actually am really enjoying the co-op mission with my best friend who lives in another state. It plays smooth as silk. I do not think I would like it as much on the PC, except for the pc precision factor. Flag this | Edit this post |
