| » Be careful! If you're openly critical you may end up with a free trip in a Lear Jet to an exotic somewhere outside the US!
I know the odds are slim and likely it is less of a problem with Obama at the wheel but he has not put an end to such shameful practices.
Another area he has not done anything about is the disgusting practice of not abiding to international criminal law. The excuse being that the US is better at making sure US forces does not commit war crimes. Unfortunately the track record says something very different! Flag this | Edit this post |

| Where do you get stuff like this - Fox News?
"In most other countries..." - is it that you think there are like five countries in the world of which three are China, China and China?
Perhaps you could back up your claims with facts - do enlighten us on copyright laws which you seem to be an expert in.
I'm not saying there isn't piracy but exactly how is suggesting stealing none US games okay gonna make things right? Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Move is a new thing. Going multi-platform is not new This me commenting on this:
"I love how you were not too long ago asking everyone to give Sony Move a chance and here you are already wailing about the end-times of this great franchise even before a single piece of concept art is released."
There is a big difference as I already made clear in the headline but let me elaborate.
As I posted in my original STALKER2 comment I'm yet to see one good thing come out of a game going multi-platform. I also challenge people to come up with some and as you can see the only suggestions have all been dismissed.
I contrast there is Move which is a new thing. So you see the difference. In the case of STALKER 2 there are analogs with Move there is not unless you count Wii or maybe Eyetoy and neither are bad things. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Graphics is not really the issue The problem seen when PC games become multi-platform games is that gameplay get's simplified, controls gets simplified, HUD's, smaller maps, inventory systems, menu systems...
Graphics suffer as well but that is not the main problem. One example is that textures are of a much lower quality due to memory limits but there are all sorts of issues especially where games are not made to really take advantage of the power in current PC's. Sure you can up the resolution but a game optimized for PC's can be so much more. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Well I also have a PSP :-)
Load times may be an issue if you're doing really short stint gaming but with anything more than a few minutes it's a different thing (also most games start pretty quick). I love the PSP when flying* and going on trains + the PSP also gets some action at home. Sometimes I even hook it up to my HIFI system :-)
Seriously. Many PSP games are just as good as what I see on my other platforms (PC/PS3/360) so I don't just use the PSP on the go.
*When flying a none-phone gaming device also has the upside of no one going nuts about flight safety issues. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » I think Sony has a very good point Gaming with a touch screen and the accelerometer sucks for anything but tic-tac-toe and the like.
What Sony is doing is simply to try and educate a bit. Lots of people have gotten their first taste of mobile gaming with a phone in fact they may even having their first taste of gaming at all on a phone. Those people then doesn't know better (like you apparently) so they need to be told mobile gaming can be so much better.
A phone may be okay for a quick fix but when traveling or commuting by train/plane a PSP is so much better (so is a DS but of course Sony will not say that). Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Crap - another one down the drain :-( While I'd like to say the next STALKER will be great the odds is in the range of 0 to 100.
So far I can not think of a single game which have benefited by going console. When(If) the games comes out in 2012 the tech on consoles will way behind what we have on PC. Not only will it be simplistic for it to run on TV's graphics wise it will be a turd as well. Flag this | Edit this post |

| How is my statement "I don't know if Move is gonna be great or not..." optimism? I'm just being neutral as opposed to passing judgment based on nothing.
As the text by FS says RUSE does not seem like a traditional RTS so how do you know how it will work? Or for that matter how do you know how much movement will be needed? Flag this | Edit this post |

I don't know if Move is gonna be great or not but it does not hurt to keep an open mind. Who knows - back in time someone thought a mouse was just for graphics guys and now...well you know. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » LOL - Says at lot about Microsoft and the whole XBOX experience.
Need I say that I much prefer my PS3 and it's openness over the cash machine that is my 360. Just the fact that my mobile headset works like a charm with the PS3 is one great example as does the 100 GB 2.5" SATA drive I took out of my laptop when upgrading it. Flag this | Edit this post |

| You forget that the 360 had a healthy head start. The almost 5 years you mention is almost 4 years for the PS3. The PS3 may not be dominating just yet but factor in that year or imagine how the figures will look a year from now and it may be a different picture.
Also while the audience here may be ready to move to a new generation any time it looks to be a while coming and for the none-hardcore people there is no rush. Just look at the PS2 which is still going strong.
Still I do agree with you and Yoshi that Microsoft is a player in this market. While I really dislike much of what they do one must respect that they have established them as a console company. Flag this | Edit this post |

Also as I understand Steam of a sort is coming to PS3 with Portal 2 so why would you not get it on PS3.
Still as for you main point I think you are correct. As a conclusion one could say NPD is trying to create controversy to sell a story. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » At least he is not telling a big fat lie I still remember Warren Spector promising Deus Ex 2 would not suffer from the fact that it would also come out on the XBOX. I think we can all remember how the PC demo by mistake came with XBOX settings in the config-files and how much was left out comparing to the original Deus Ex.
I highly advise against buying Deus Ex 3 before real reviews tell if it is a turd. (And by real reviews I mean reviews which come after the game has been released and there have been time to do actual playing! Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Not really First of all I see no reason to upgrade until the old one dies. Sure it will be nice to get something that sound less like a leaf blower but it is still money which could have been used on games (or towards a PS3 if one does not own that yet).
There is also the issue of migrating data. If you have a old arcade edition then I hear the memory modules will not fit in the new one! And it is the same thing with the hard drive modules!
Honestly if you have a 360 then get something else rather than upgrading to something which brings very little. Flag this | Edit this post |
