Not sure if you are talking about the Cryengine or UE3, but I am amazed how well UE3 runs on mid-range hardware, and how good it looks doing so. Heck, my 8800GTS 320MB (which is a good card, but didn't cost that much more than $200) cuts through the UE3 engine like butter.
Crysis, though, is a different story, and it kind of sucks having to turn video options to medium and play at 1280x1024 again.
