| I hate CES. It's a total nightmare of long taxi lines and thousands of people all pushing and shoving to get from one venue to another. Not to mention that it's the first week of January, which means that everyones holidays are ruined preparing for the show.
CES used to be just consumer electronics. When Comdex imploded, people in the PC industry needed a new trade show to show off their goodies and CES was the next logical show. But the audience isn't really there to see computers, they are there for big screen TV's and DVD players, so the PC people are forced to scrounge for space on the perimeter of the show or get scattered across hotel rooms up and down the LV strip.
Now they've added games. Sure, why not. The bigger the show gets the better as far as I'm concerned. The bigger it gets the sooner it will implode like Comdex and E3 before it. And then I won't have to attend that nightmare of a show ever again. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Kessandra, your video upload capacity has been increased. I couldn't remember where we put the administrative controls. Fortunately, Pongky found them. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Final Comment Thanks to everyone who posted questions and comments.
Join us next week as we put Jakub under the microscope and poke holes in him like my grandmothers 75 year old pin cushion.
Also thanks to Brandon who took time out of his busy schedule to answer questions.

| | They do. And they would be a good partner for one of the huge Chinese conglomerates in my opinion. They have managed to scrape our a low power market that is doing well for them. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I would hate to compete against Intel in the CPU business. Having said that, there may be an up and coming silicon company in China that could compete with Intel. Got knows, they will challenge US product supremacy across the board in the next 50 years. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » ATI/AMD It's been about 9 months now since AMD and ATI merged. What are you expectations for the new company now that some of the dust has settled? Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Industry Brandon, in your opinion, what is going to happen to the hardcore PC gaming industry? Do you think it is going to continue to shrink against the consoles?
And, if it does, what does that mean for companies like nvidia? Flag this | Edit this post |

| » MSI motherboard swap I've got an MSI motherboard that only recognizes 1/2 my RAM. It's becoming a real problem because I regularly run out of virtual memory.
I'd like to swap it with another mb, but don't want to have to completely rebuild my OS and all my software. Can I swap out the mb with one that uses the same chip set and expect WinXP to adopt to the new system?
One more hurdle.... I am also using the built in RAID on the motherboard. This required a special driver during the original XP installation. Flag this | Edit this post |
