In case you didn't notice, this is the first official Vandy article on FiringSquad. Vandy, as you all know, was the winner of our Editor's Challenge earlier this year. I for one happen to really enjoy his writing style and look forward to reading many more articles in the near future and beyond.

I've got 5 PC's in the house along with numerous laptops that need to turned off at night. I can only imagine how these are contributing to my electric bill. Now I can go do something about it. For those of you following the contest, we're making a couple of changes to the master calendar. First, we are not going to announce the rules for the final rounds until next week. We have 1 contestant in Canada (you'll never guess who that is) and one in the United Kingdom (making a solid showing for Queen and country). Since the hardware has to clear customs in both of these fine countries, we may need to delay the contest a bit. From my experience, shipping packages through Canadian customs is more difficult than smuggling a container full of illegals into the US.
The hardware has already been shipped to our international contestants. The remaining 2 US based finalists (you know who you are) will have to wait another week before we ship those. We want to try to keep the amount of time between the contestants as equal as possible.
