| What would you call it then?
A game where you use a series of punches, kicks, varioush techniques and special moves to hit your opponent. Damaging him until to the point where he is easily knocked off the stage defeating your opponent.
All this is, is a "king of the castle" variation on fighting games. Get over yourself. Flag this | Edit this post |

| agreed, in the current state of SC, a pro player can kill 6 marines with 3 dragoons, and not suffer a loss. You just keep backing off the focused dragoon and the marines just keep running into fire without shooting back. Shit like that can get pretty annoying.
Not to say some stuff like that might still exist, but there's so many little things u can do to kinda bug out the AI and they need to reduce that. I think they're adding the special moves to as many units as possible to kind of create new opportunities for micro-management that won't really be "bugging out the AI"... | After thoroughly investigating all the info that's been release on SC2 thus far, my feelings are mixed.
It feels more like an SC1.5. Facelift + revamped-races. What they're trying to do is further diversify the races. For example, the protoss trading up from a dragoon to an immortal. Gives it a weakness vs small units and a massive strength against strong units. To me it seems like they're making protoss a very basic race with very distinct counters. Terran is the most advanced race where counters consist of well-executed battle strategy. And Zerg strategy requires more "zerging" than before with a mix of some key special abilities like in the past (defiler dark swarm and such).
We still haven't learnt much about Terran and Protoss, and according to blizzard we're only getting 3 races (tho it wouldn't suprise me if they're saving a 4th for a surprise announcement). So my opinion may change a bit when we have more details.
I will purchase it, but I don't feel like it's going to be quite as revolutionary as the original title. As well, the graphics are moderately dissapointing, protoss is ok... cuz they're supposed to be the fancy sci-fi race, but zerg and terran look too much like a badly modded version of warcraft 3. | Assuming it's some sort of Starcraft game:
I never thought of all those options, but GOD I sure hope they don't make it like Warcraft 3 with hero units. I wouldn't mind it if the SC units gained xp and some of their abilities auto-lvl'd kinda like Company of Heroes. It gives you a large bonus for smartly retreating units. I never liked the hero-unit element tho - 1 unit more powerful than any army you can conjur is simply retarded.
Otherwise, a traditional RTS with some new features would be great. I think starcraft requires a bit of "rawness" that other rts' of today don't have. But that doesn't mean it can't have alot of the features that exist in current RTS +more.
So I figure SC2, it probably what will happen, but I've always wished for a SC:MMO since I first played SC many many years ago. Kind of like a planetside that doesn't suck like planetside does. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | That's actually a good idea. I'm sure there's enough guys out there to keep a business like this operating. I could see a type of person who would otherwise not go to a strip joint getting their car washed in this manner (WoW players and such). Flag this | Edit this post |

| Starcraft MMOFPS imo. Planetside had potential but fell short. Blizzard took the crap world of mmorpgs and made it good. I'm sure they could do the same with the planetside model. Of course, Blizzard doesn't like to launch competing games on the heals of each other:
Warcraft: 1995 (RTS)
Warcraft 2: 1996 (RTS)
Diablo: 1996 (RPG)
Starcraft: 1998 (RTS)
Diablo 2: 2000 (RPG)
Warcraft 3: 2002 (RTS)
WoW: 2004 (mmoRPG)
So since 1996 - 2004 blizzard has cycled between an RTS and RPG every 2 years. It's been 3 years now (and that can be attributed to entering the mmo world of continual profits and increased effort to enhance) So I fully expect a genre outside of RPG atleast. Flag this | Edit this post |

| A quote unquote software fix as you say that is unlocking the horizontal scaling won't give the PS3 a resource/performance hit as you're speculating, I think. Think of it as a driver update that is opening up functional calls to the PS3 processor that was previously locked or non-existant.
BTW, anyone want a PS3? My local walmart has has a bunch in stock. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Yup I ran around killing people with a chainsaw. I'm not saying the people I was playing with were any good, but i joined serveral different pubs and the strategy worked in all of them.
As well, I was able to flank alot of them, but for the most part, running straight on while buddy tries to shoot me, i just hold that red chainsaw button down. I mean, I have alot of experience with FPSs and knifing and such, but when i'm getting hit by foam pellets and knife kills are 1shots, it's an easy way to play. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Not really... I was extremely underwhelmed by this game. The single-player mode felt very "Doom" like. Very little story, a bit of gameplay, it seemed more like a graphical showcase than anything else. I simply would not have the endurance to play this game for much more than 30 minutes at a time.
To make things worse, the multiplayer is a complete joke. I was able to top the kill chart in the 10 servers I joined just by running around like an idiot holding the chainsaw button. Occasionally I was killed by a shotgun, once in awhile a guy that prefered a sticky nade came and went, but mostly I just chainsawed and got chainsawed back. I could top the kill chart every round because I would use the chainsaw exclusively and beat everyone to the punch.
By the end of our GoW session, everyone in the room opted to play Red Steel instead, graphics extremely inferior, but the gameplay was very goldeneye like with a new wii control scheme was actually fun. Altho Raman Raving Rabbids was definately the party favorite game of the night. Flag this | Edit this post |
