Heh, not really. As much as I want starcraft 2, I was surprised that Blizzard is willing to go back to making a game they can only sell you once. They'll sell a ton of copies of SC2, but I bet it won't even come close to matching the amount of cash they pull in from a year of WoW subscription fees.

My feelings are that they're only doing SC2 in order to renew interest for the franchise. Then world of starcraft will come and pick up the slack once WoW starts to decline.

They absolutely should, but they never will.

Makes sense. Storage is cheap and they need the console to have a bigger drive if they want to keep pushing their downloadable movie/tv show thing.

Benchies at tomshardware. Pretty impressive for integrated graphics, but still not really suited for gaming. 90% overclock is pretty funny though.

I'd argue there was quite a bit of risk chrispyski. They no longer had the guitar hero brand name to go on, and in fact they were competing against the strength of the brand they built. Here's this near-$200 new franchise rock band sitting on the shelf next to the significantly cheaper, established brand of guitar hero. How many people were going to plop down $180? GH3 was released first to massive sales. How many people were going to buy both games? How many people even want a room full of plastic instruments?

Rock band was a pretty significant risk in my eyes, but the profit potential with downloadable songs is massive, and its clearly working out for them.

Man, this brings back some memories. I think the first pre-release game I ever played in was the q3test. Me and my hotrod 8mb intel i740 graphics card were pulling nearly 25 fps at 640x480.

WoW is actually $800+ over 5 years if they don't release any more expansions. And folks say consoles are expensive?

This isn't a rumor, its a matter of time. Unless they have some huge deal in the works they absolutely need to bail on this thing or they'll bleed money forever.

Crackdown is a game that I can go back to every few months and just screw around for a couple of hours. I would love another game in this series.

As far as I know, the only 9x series card thats coming next month is the 9600. Thats a replacement for the 8600 and below the 8800's in performance, so AMD hs nothing to worry about there. Their real issue would be the rumors of an dual gpu board made up of 8800gt's, but even so, at $450 this card is priced well enough that it could still have its own niche.

On the one hand, its kinda stupid and they're totally out of place.

On the other hand, major star wars characters in a fighting game with extremely solid mechanics? I'm totally sold. Nobody ever bought a fighting game based on its story and cohesiveness of its setting.

Why would it have sold at least as many as the PS3? It wouldn't have had a price advantage or launched as soon as it did. Without those two things, it wouldn't have had the big installed base advantage that keeps exclusives out of Sony's hands. That just would have left them to compete on the strength of their brands, in which case the Playstation would have walked all over the 360.

I imagine they're thinking that the people who made a killer new IP should be allowed to continue to make killer new IPs. The world has already been imagined, the major characters have already been introduced, and all of the tech is already in place. One of the other teams ought to be able to take it from here while the Irrational guys put their creative juices to better use.

Of course its a prequel. Without giving away spoilers, you couldn't exactly continue from where the first game left off.

Luckily, these xbox live problems occurred while I was playing Mass Effect, which is single player so I didn't really care. I'm never one to turn down a free game though.

At the risk of pissing everyone off, XBL is far and away better than any interface I've used on PC. That said, bringing Live to the PC was a stupid idea.

Unfortunately, it seems 5 year olds buy games other than WoW and the sims.

Crysis got positive reviews but dismal sales, and it looks as if the Far Cry 2 guys intend to avoid the same fate.

Weird. The order of the 10 is debatable, but other than ace combat, they all pretty much belong on the list. The new metroid probably should have taken its place.

Wow, looks like these are in stock and actually selling at the 180/220 price points. Thats awfully tempting with the 8800gt being hard to find and marked up so badly.

Also, I didn't see any overclocking results for the 3850 in the article. Can you get it near 3870 speeds?

Ought to say something about the console wars when the "game of the year" and "xbox 360 game of the year" lists are the same.

AMD has new high end parts to announce next month I believe. Nvidia surely has new ones coming soon too, since they just made their whole lineup obsolete with this one.
