Why CGI? Halo has never been a pre-rendered cut scene type of franchise. Doing one now seems dishonest and misleading, as well as simply uninteresting.

This is actually a very good article. The interviewer asks some good, hard questions about Microsoft, and questions some of the wisdom of their decisions.

They're saying that the average 360 owner has many games, which indicates a hardcore gamer. It could also indicate that theres just many good games for the 360, but in this case I think they have a point. There should be a significant number of people with just 1 or 2 games if the console really had casual gamer appeal.

Luckily, Sony makes all their money on the consoles. Oh wait...

Those past consoles had their web browser on a read only cd, and had no harddrives. There's virtually no risk there.

So? Consoles have operating systems too. They weren't really vulnerable before now because there was no real way to attack a hole in them. The best you could do was putting code in a memory card, crafted as a game save. Opening up the web however, allows you to create a web page with malicious content that anybody could inadvertently download.

Isn't sticking a web browser on a console a horrible idea? Online games and regulated marketplace content is great, but opening up the whole web seems like asking for trouble. Even Firefox running on Linux needs to be patched to keep the bad men out. It seems like there's a lot of negative feelings in the tech savvy community toward the PS3. This just seems like trouble.

HD-DVD isn't nearly as important to Microsoft as blue-ray is to Sony. Its not really important for hd-dvd to succeed, only for blue-ray not to. Thats where the downloadable hd movies come into play. HD movies with no $200 player? Yes please.

Your codecs will probably work fine still. I just wish microsoft would support some non-wmv stuff too. It would make the media center functionality much more useful.

If there were a map or two worth of multiplayer, people would absolutely pay for it to hold them over for 6 months.

"Now imagine the possibilities with an advanced liquid cooling system, some high end memory, a top shelf motherboard, and a bit of overclocking."

Not really that hard to imagine. Its not like people will buy these to plug into their $500 PCs.

He's doing what he can. Sony's only real play is to market the ps3 as far far superior to the other two. In reality, its pretty damn close to a 360, + $200. If they can get the public to believe its far better, they'll sell. Acting like they're a whole level beyond Microsoft and Nintento is just part of the plan.

Voodoo was the same as falcon, alienware and the others. Except about $2000 more expensive. They innovate and research nothing. Its just a bunch of off the shelf parts with higher clocks.

Its an advertisement, but also a valid point. The 360 certainly had its launch and manufacturing troubles, and many said that their global launch was a bad idea. But they had the luxury of doing it without any next-gen competition and now those problems are a year behind them. They're in a very decent position right now.
