| I haven't looked myself, but Valve is saying their WC3 EULA didn't have anything like that in it, at least not in terms that would be legally binding (whether EULAs or ToS are legally binding to begin with is another matter).
Shortly after I posted the story, I found out that the original creator of DOTA, a guy who goes by the screenname "Eul" ALSO works for Valve. From a moral standpoint, I'd say that ends it right there, in favor of Valve. So the "we own it because it was created as a WC3 mod" is all Blizzard has to stand on, and that may not hold up in court, if it even gets that far. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | There's a longer video from Kotaku that everyone else is passing around, including the little explanation of it from Todd Howard leading up to them showing this video at DICE 2012, but I chose this one because it's not out of sync. Anywho, he says they haven't decided if any of this will be released (free or otherwise), but I guess anything is possible. Really looking forward to DLC for this game. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I've heard the performance difference is negligible at best (provided you meet the hardware requirements), because the texture pack doesn't overhaul everything to the max like some fan-made ones would. The most noticeable improvements are in less blurring and smudging on stuff like items, clothes, and equipment. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I wouldn't think so. As mentioned in the post, even if the rumors are true and they're taking some drastic measures, they're probably not shutting down. And even if they do, I'm sure Relic would have a home somewhere else or be able to do their own thing. As for the Warhammer 40k IP, that would be up to Games Workshop as to whether they let them keep working on it. I don't see why they wouldn't. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I'm pretty sure the whole idea of making it work at such short distances (50cm is only about 1 1/2 feet) was so you can use it sitting at your desk. Sure, that wouldn't work if they release Dance Central 3 or whatever for PC, but it would be cool to track head movements and recognize hand gestures, stuff like that. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | It is a little slow, but I'm sure they'd add a fast-forward button. Also have to consider what kind of controlled chaos you'll have to manage if you had like 100 of those worker guys. You have to appreciate being able to plan out any kind of building you want and then setting your minions to constructing it, though. Flag this | Edit this post |

| You could boil down every PC game to "just clicking on stuff" though, and none of them have any "real" meaning because their purpose is purely recreation/entertainment/diversion.
But there's a huge difference between Mafia Wars, which is basically a spreadsheet game, and TOR that actually engages you in a story, gives you a character and a ship and companions to explore the universe with, not to mention offers combat that is really cool to watch (as opposed to clicking "Attack" and getting a text response as to how much damage you did).
Also, space battles. I had actually forgotten about them being in the game until I encountered my first one, and they're awesome. Maybe I like them more than most because I grew up playing that kind of stuff in arcades and on Sega Genesis (Star Wars Arcade 32X!), but it's still a nice change of pace that earns rewards equal to questing. Does any other MMO have something like that? Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I like how they try to hook you in to Railworks 3 with a 90% off sale, in attempts to get you to buy some of their $1800 worth of DLC, which is AFTER the 50% discount they have on it right now. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I've actually shown some self-restraint with this sale... Only bought Tropico 4 so far ($14 was way more fair a price to pay for what's basically a standalone expansion) but I'll probably get Blur, too, because some guys want to do that for Frag Night. I'm completing all the objectives I can, but haven't bought any game strictly for that purpose. Probably helps that I've already bought most of the games I've wanted already. :p Flag this | Edit this post |

| But how many hours was that before you got bored? I bet it was more than most games. I rarely play an MMO for months straight, but as long as it's good I come back to it now and then.
I made a Bounty Hunter after I got out of the prologue area for the Sith Warrior, that's a whole other unique 6-8 hour thing. I noticed two classes share each prologue area though. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | That's been a rumor based on the 3 seconds of footage we've seen (see image above). It's still a possibility at this point, though, for all we know the "real" domain could be generalsalliances.com for Command & Conquer: Generals - Alliances or something. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I think most people are having the same reaction because it was so unexpected, but there's no reason to believe it's not for real. A proper South Park game with all the familiar voices, brilliant writing, off-the-wall parody/humor, and random variety, especially in an RPG, would be pretty sweet. Even if the game sucks, it'll sell like hotcakes to their millions of fans, so why wouldn't they want to do it? Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I'm not familiar with any Imjin war DLC, is it something they've talked about before? Why would releasing a stand-alone expansion prevent them from putting out more content, even for the base game? Flag this | Edit this post |

| Oh, yes, I've got a link to the LAA work-around and everything on the 'Modding and tweaks' page of the article.
I'll be starting new characters now, too. I only dabbled in magic with my stealth assassin guy, so I want to go full-blown High Elf wizard, really zap some fools. I was quite jealous of the mage mercenary you can hire (in Riften, I think); for a while he was killing enemies before I could even get a shot off. Pretty overpowered for the pittance you pay to keep him with you indefinitely, IMO. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Heh, but did you know anything above a 567 armor rating is useless? Damage reduction maxes out by then at 80%, so there's not really an advantage to investing in heavy armor perks. You still need the perks if you want to reach the armor cap with high-end light armor, but if you fully exploit smithing by boosting it with enchantments and potions, ANY armor can give you full protection. How's that for balance, lol. :p Link: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Armor Flag this | Edit this post |
